Do you know how to maintain furniture?

As we all know,"Prevention is better than cure"which applies everywhere and everything. If a person knows how to take care of himself/herself and takes care of it properly, he will live a  long life. The same to the solid wood furniture-If properly cared for, it will still shine just like new even if it is really very old. Here are some tips for maintaining solid wood furniture.

1.Keep away from the sharp or hard objects to prevent it from being scratched. The scratches are very hardly to be repaired as before. It doesn't matter to use, but the obvious defects will affect the appearance, and make the people uncomfortable.

2.Keep away from heat source and sunlight, as solid wood is very sensitive to temperature and light. The ideal temperature is 18-24 degrees. Too high or too low air may cause deformation or aging of solid wood furniture. For instance, in winter, place solid wood furniture nearby a fireplace or air conditioner outlet or in a place exposed to direct sunlight. After solid wood furniture is baked by a heat source for a long time, the wood will partially dry and crack, deform or locally deteriorate. All these factors will affect the appearance and lifetime of solid wood furniture. Therefore, keep a distance of at least 1 meter from heat source, and use coasters, placemats & tablecloths on the table as possible.

3.Keep it clean every day. It is best to first wipe the floating dust on the surface with a wrung wet cotton cloth, and then wipe it again with a dry cotton cloth. First of all, a clean and soft cotton cloth is the first choice, then soak it in water and wring it out, which can not only reduce the friction with the surface of the furniture during cleaning, but also help reduce the adsorption of dust by static electricity. In order to avoid moisture residue, it is best to wipe it again with a dry cotton cloth.

4.Avoid the moisture damage. The solid wood is not only sensitive to the temperature and sunlight, but also to the humidity. In the rainy season, the indoor humidity is relatively high, especially the humidity on the first floor is much greater. Thin film or plastic feet is better to be used to separate the contact part from the ground. At the same time, it should be kept at least 1cm distance from the wall.

5.With the passage of time, solid wood will lose its luster and leave traces of years. Just like life, it will eventually grow old. Proper wood waxing oil or waxing maintenance can delay aging.

In short, with correct use and careful maintenance, solid wood furniture will always be with you like family members.
