How to choose the right chair?

The History of Chairs

Did you know that in ancient China, people used to sit on the floor? So why did chairs come into existence later on? It was due to a change in people's lifestyles and the simplification of clothing. As life became more convenient, we needed tools that would make sitting and lying down more comfortable.

Thus, the birth of chairs was aimed at making our work and lives more comfortable. With the passage of time and the influence of foreign cultures, our lives have improved, leading to various demands for chair designs, colors, and styles. Today, chairs come in countless styles and choosing the right one for oneself has become a challenge.

1. Chair Style and Color Matching

When categorizing chairs based on their functions, we have office chairs, dining chairs, bar chairs, lounge chairs, recliners, and more. Before choosing a chair, we should consider its intended usage and have a rough plan for the overall interior design of our space. What style is the space following? Is it a cool or warm color scheme? What colors do the users and other shared items like flooring, decorations, accompanying furniture, paintings, wallpapers, and curtains have? Which chair color would coordinate well with these elements?

We can refer to some pictures or platforms like WEHOO to express our thoughts based on simple observations:

1. Style Plan: We can frequently browse through classic home decor images or popular interior design pictures to find reference ideas. This is a common approach used by WEHOO. For example, to create a relaxed and youthful office style, one can choose a refreshing background wall and simple and attractive desk and chair designs.

2. Color Scheme: Whenever WEHOO is uncertain about a color scheme, we search for a range of color matching schemes to find inspiration. Color schemes reflect a state of perfection and can provide us with plenty of ideas for home decor or other types of combinations. The key principle of color matching in home decor is similar to that of clothing: a space should not have more than three color schemes. Following this principle, we can mix and match colors.

2. How to Choose the Size of a Chair

Apart from the softness or hardness of a chair, its size also plays a crucial role in determining comfort. Consider the following measurements as references and choose based on your personal sitting experience:

1) Seat Height: Seat height refers to the vertical distance from the middle position of the front edge of the seat to the floor. It is an important factor affecting sitting comfort. If the seat is too high and the legs are dangling without reaching the floor, some of the body's weight will be distributed to the thighs, compressing the thigh blood vessels and impeding blood circulation, leading to fatigue. If the seat is too low, it causes the knees to arch and the body weight to concentrate on the sitting bones, resulting in discomfort over time. To avoid excessive pressure on the thighs, the height from the seat's front edge or footrest to the ground should not exceed the distance from the soles to the thighs' bend. According to research, an appropriate seat height is the shin groove height plus 25-35mm heel height, minus 10-20mm. This way, the thighs experience slight pressure, and the lower legs have some room for movement. When purchasing a chair, try sitting on it according to your height. The ideal position is when your lower legs are parallel to the seat, and adjustable height chairs offer more convenience for adjusting to individual needs.

2) Seat Depth: Seat depth refers to the distance from the front edge to the back edge of the chair seat. It greatly affects sitting comfort. If the seat is too deep and exceeds the length of the thighs in a sitting position, the waist lacks support and remains suspended, while the knee area experiences
